The ELC’s whimsical, fantastical Storybook Street returns--this time to Suncoast Technical College in Sarasota.  The FREE, family-friendly, book-themed wonderland will once again collaborate with more than a dozen local arts and cultural organizations to bring children’s books to life. Designed for children ages birth to 7, this year’s extravaganza will be an in-person event, as opposed to the original drive-thru concept.
 
The event will feature art, dance, drama, music, movement and more. Preschool-level performances will be coupled with engaging, hands-on, age-appropriate activities for young children to enjoy.
 
No registration necessary. Just show up (early) with a smile! 
 
The first 400 families will have an opportunity to walk away with 16 new children’s books each, a swag bag of goodies as well as meaningful, memorable moments to help foster an early love of reading. To enjoy the full experience, the Coalition recommends arriving before 10am since families will likely take more than an hour to visit all the booths and collect books.
 
 We are excited to partner with Sarasota’s vibrant arts community as we showcase the many talents of artists from Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet, Venice Theatre, Ringling College, Ringling Museum ROAR program, The Players Centre, Venice Symphony, Circus Arts Conservatory, Florida Studio Theatre, CreArte Latino, Sarasota Art Museum, Music Compound, Irish Dance Academy of Sarasota and Sarasota County Libraries.
 
Our list of collaborators continues with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and Sarasota County Fire Department.
 
Children are welcome to dress up as their favorite storybook character! And, to add to the children’s excitement, Sarasota High School Theatre students will bring some of those favorite characters to life, meeting and greeting their little fans as they wait to enter the event.
