The Children of Caregivers Visit HCA Florida Englewood Hospital for Take Your Child to Work Day

Children of caregivers at HCA Florida Englewood Hospital took part in “Take Your Child to Work Day”, an annual event to celebrate with families on campus. The group learned about how their parents care for patients, how to “eat the rainbow” from a registered dietician, used a scanner to find a vein in their arm, participated in a hand-washing demonstration, saw the four chambers of a heart on a screen and heard their own heartbeat with a stethoscope.

The kids took time to design and deliver get-well cards to the delight of patients. They also surprised caregivers around the hospital with kettle corn and caramel corn as a special thank you for all they do to care for others.

“They were very welcoming to our kids and helped us teach them why community is such an important part of what we do and how we care for our patients.” said Shannon Driscoll, director of Clinical Informatics.

Bill English, vice president of Finance enjoyed the day with his daughter, Piper. He said, “This was a great opportunity for our children to come in and see what mom and dad do every day. They got a behind the scenes tour of the things that go on in the hospital all the time for our patients.”
